Job Summary
Philosophia In Mount Pleasant seeking a talented and dedicated Sous Chef to join our culinary team and to eventually grow into a Chef de Cuisine/Head Chef role. The ideal candidate will have a passion for food and a commitment to excellence in the kitchen. As a Sous Chef, you will play a crucial role in supporting the Chef Owner in managing kitchen operations, ensuring high-quality food production, and maintaining exceptional standards of food safety and hygiene. This position requires strong leadership skills, culinary expertise, and the ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment. This Position also requires working the line during service (5 days a week).
Responsibilities
- Assist the Owner/Manager and Regional Chef in menu planning and development, ensuring creative and seasonal offerings.
- Oversee daily kitchen operations, including food preparation, cooking, and presentation of dishes.
- Supervise kitchen staff, providing training and guidance to ensure high performance and adherence to standards.
- Manage inventory control and ordering of supplies to maintain optimal stock levels.
- Ensure compliance with food safety regulations and best practices in food handling.
- Collaborate with the catering team for special events and banquets, ensuring seamless execution of service.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the kitchen area, adhering to health department regulations.
- Participate in staff meetings to discuss menu changes, special events, and operational improvements.
Qualifications
- Proven experience as a Sous Chef or similar role in fine dining or high-volume restaurants.
- Proficient Spanish
- Strong background in food production, catering, and restaurant management.
- Experience with menu planning, inventory management, and shift management.
- Excellent leadership skills with the ability to manage a diverse team effectively.
- Knowledge of food safety standards and culinary techniques.
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail in food preparation and presentation.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment while maintaining quality standards.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $60,000.00 - $65,000.00 per year
