Kitchen Social is seeking a detail-oriented, efficient Prep Cook to lay the foundation for our daily kitchen operations. In this role, you will be responsible for executing bulk recipes, processing raw ingredients, and ensuring the line is fully stocked and ready for high-volume service. The ideal candidate has sharp knife skills, a strong work ethic, and a passion for consistency and food safety.
Key Responsibilities
- Recipe Execution: Prepare batch recipes, sauces, dressings, and proteins precisely according to company standards and specs.
- Ingredient Prep: Complete daily prep lists efficiently—including washing, peeling, chopping, slicing, and dicing produce and meats.
- Portion Control: Weigh, measure, and portion ingredients accurately to maintain consistency and control food costs.
- Food Safety & Rotation: Strictly adhere to local health department codes. Label, date, and organize all prepped items using FIFO (First In, First Out) standards.
- Station Maintenance: Maintain a clean, sanitized, and organized prep station; safely operate and clean kitchen equipment (e.g., slicers, food processors, mixers).
- Team Support: Anticipate kitchen needs and communicate with the management team regarding inventory levels or prep shortages.
Skills & Qualifications
- Experience: Previous experience as a prep cook or culinary professional in a fast-paced restaurant environment preferred.
- Technical Skills: Strong foundational knife skills and familiarity with standard commercial kitchen equipment.
- Food Safety: Knowledge of proper food handling, temperature logs, and sanitation procedures. (ServSafe or local food handler certification is a plus).
- Attributes: High attention to detail, excellent time management, and the ability to work independently from a prep sheet.
- Physical Requirements: Ability to stand for long periods, perform repetitive tasks (chopping/sorting), and lift up to 50 lbs.
