Duties
- Assist residents and clients with activities of daily living (ADLs), including personal care, grooming, bathing, dressing, and mobility support using manual handling techniques such as Hoyer lifts and patient transfer methods
- Monitor patient health by taking vital signs, observing for changes in condition, and reporting findings accurately to healthcare teams while adhering to HIPAA regulations for confidentiality
- Support medication administration following care plans and safety protocols to ensure proper dosage and timing
- Prepare nutritious meals tailored to individual dietary needs and assist with meal consumption when necessary
- Maintain a clean, safe environment through routine cleaning tasks and ensuring proper sanitation standards are met in accordance with health guidelines
- Provide transportation assistance for medical appointments, community activities, or errands using personal or agency-provided transportation methods
- Engage clients in meaningful activities that promote cognitive stimulation and social interaction, including experience working with individuals with autism or dementia care needs
Experience
- Prior experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities, intellectual disabilities support, or senior care is highly desirable
- Familiarity with group home settings or assisted living environments enhances your ability to deliver effective support
- Knowledge of patient observation techniques, patient monitoring, and first aid/CPR certification is essential for ensuring safety and quick response during emergencies
- Experience working with neurodevelopmental disorders such as autism or dementia enhances your ability to provide specialized care
- Ability to perform heavy lifting and manual handling safely while assisting residents with transfers using equipment like Hoyer lifts or patient transfer methods
- Strong communication skills for engaging effectively with clients, families, and healthcare professionals while maintaining confidentiality under HIPAA guidelines
- Demonstrated capability in home health or hospice care settings is a plus for providing comprehensive support across various environments
