Job Summary:
We are seeking a skilled and reliable Lead Painter to ensure high-quality results on residential and/or commercial projects. This role requires strong leadership abilities, hands-on expertise, and a thorough understanding of all phases of painting, including surface preparation and application techniques.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepared interior and exterior surfaces by cleaning, sanding, scraping, patching, caulking, and priming.
- Applied paints, stains, sealers, and coatings using brushes, rollers, and airless sprayers.
- Masked and protected surrounding surfaces, furniture, fixtures, and flooring before painting.
- Operated and maintained airless spray equipment, including setup, cleaning, and troubleshooting.
- Ensured proper adhesion and finish quality through thorough surface preparation.
- Applied multiple coats while maintaining consistent coverage, texture, and finish.
- Followed safety procedures when working on ladders, scaffolding, and with painting materials.
- Maintained a clean and organized work area throughout each project.
- Inspected completed work for quality, corrected imperfections, and performed touch-ups as needed.
- Estimated material needs and minimized waste through efficient use of paints and supplies.
- Communicated with supervisors, team members, and customers to ensure project requirements were met.
- Completed projects within established timelines while maintaining high-quality workmanship.
- Maintained painting tools and equipment to ensure safe and efficient operation.
Required Skills & Experience:
- Proven experience as a professional painter, with leadership or supervisory experience preferred
- Strong knowledge and hands-on experience in:
- Surface preparation (sanding, scraping, caulking, patching, priming)
- Brushing and rolling techniques
- Spraying (airless and/or HVLP systems)
- Backrolling for even coverage and finish quality
- Ability to read and interpret job specifications and plans
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to high-quality workmanship
- Excellent time management and organizational skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing priorities
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to stand, bend, climb ladders, and lift up to 50 lbs
- Comfortable working at heights and in various weather conditions
Preferred Qualifications:
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
- Knowledge of safety regulations and best practices
