Senior Accountant - GL & Close Details:
-
Contract to Hire position
-
$48.00 to $56.00 /hour
-
First Shift
-
Run the monthly close and maintain the integrity of the general ledger, with the expectation of operating the close largely independently by the second month.

Complete bank reconciliations across six accounts, plus virtual card and till reconciliations; research and resolve timing differences, duplicates, and posting errors.

Prepare journal entries, accruals, prepaid amortization, fixed asset and depreciation entries, sales and use tax entries, allocations, and reclassifications.

Perform general ledger and balance sheet reconciliations, research abnormal balances, and prepare the trial balance.

Own distribution-specific accounting, including direct-ship and drop-ship activity, Book In / Book Out processing, and direct-ship control account reconciliation.

Review cost of goods sold and supplier costs and investigate inventory-to-GL discrepancies.

Back up the other senior accountant’s cycle as needed and contribute to clear, practical process documentation.
Senior Accountant - GL & Close Qualifications:
-
Hands-on experience personally closing the books for a distributor or manufacturer; experience reviewing another person’s close alone is not sufficient.

Strong inventory and cost-of-goods-sold accounting experience, including discrepancy research and control account reconciliation.

ERP experience is required. Kerridge K8 is exceptional; Epicor, Infor, NetSuite, or a comparable distribution or manufacturing ERP is highly relevant.

Three-way match familiarity in an inventory environment and an understanding of supplier price and quantity variances are strongly preferred.

Strong Excel skills and clear written and verbal communication.

Detail-oriented, self-directed, and comfortable working hands-on without staff-level support beneath the role.

A positive, steady presence with the judgment to ask good questions, learn quickly, and stabilize an established business before proposing change.
