Job Summary
We are seeking an energetic and detail-oriented Heavy Duty Truck Shop Service Writer to join our dynamic team. Responsibilities
- Greet customers promptly and professionally, gathering detailed information about their truck issues to facilitate accurate service orders
- Write clear, comprehensive service estimates for repairs such as transmissions, brakes, suspensions, air brakes, oil changes, tire services, and diesel engine repairs
- Coordinate with technicians to prioritize repairs and ensure timely completion of services while maintaining high-quality standards
- Upsell additional services and maintenance opportunities based on vehicle diagnostics and mechanical assessments to maximize shop revenue
- Manage all aspects of service writing including invoicing, cash handling, and documentation of work performed in accordance with dealership procedures
- Maintain excellent customer relations by providing updates on repair status and explaining technical issues in an understandable manner
- Keep detailed records of vehicle history, repair orders, and parts used to ensure accurate tracking and future reference
Qualifications
- Proven dealership experience with a strong background in auto service management and automotive diagnostics
- Hands-on mechanic experience with knowledge of automotive repair procedures including transmissions, oil changes, brake repair, suspension work, shocks & struts, alignment, tire service, air brake systems, and diesel engines
- Familiarity with auto estimating software and auto body repair processes is preferred
- Exceptional customer service skills with the ability to communicate technical information clearly and professionally
- Strong mechanical knowledge combined with experience in vehicle maintenance and service technician roles
- Ability to handle cash transactions accurately while maintaining attention to detail
- Sales-oriented mindset with experience in upselling automotive services and automobile sales is a plus
