Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Dental Assistant to join our dental team. This vital role supports the delivery of high-quality patient care by assisting dentists during procedures, managing patient records, and ensuring the clinic operates smoothly. The ideal candidate will possess strong clinical skills, excellent communication abilities, and a thorough understanding of dental terminology and infection control protocols. Duties
- Prepare treatment rooms with necessary instruments, materials, and supplies, ensuring all equipment is sterilized and ready for procedures.
- Assist dentists during a variety of dental treatments, including chairside assisting with procedures such as restorations, extractions, and endodontics.
- Take and develop dental X-rays, ensuring proper technique and patient safety in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Manage patient records using electronic medical record (EMR) systems such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix, maintaining accuracy and confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA standards.
- Provide patient education on oral hygiene practices and post-treatment care to promote overall dental health.
- Perform vital signs assessment and medical documentation to support comprehensive patient evaluations.
- Maintain infection control protocols using aseptic techniques to prevent cross-contamination within the clinic environment.
- Support administrative tasks such as scheduling appointments, managing medical records, and assisting the dental receptionist when needed.
- Collaborate with team members in four-handed dentistry to optimize workflow efficiency during procedures.
- Assist with specialized treatments including prosthodontics, endodontics, pediatric dentistry, and general dentistry procedures utilizing knowledge of dental terminology and anatomy.
Requirements
- Experience supporting chairside assisting in four-handed dentistry environments to enhance efficiency during procedures.
- Excellent communication skills for patient interaction and team collaboration within a fast-paced clinic setting.
- Certification in radiography or X-ray technology is preferred; additional certifications related to pediatric dentistry or medical coding are advantageous.
