Job Overview
We are looking for a dedicated and experienced caregiver to join a private home care team for a 93-year-old gentleman with advanced Alzheimer’s. The patient is bed-bound and requires 100% assistance with all daily living activities. This position is managed by a Registered Nurse, ensuring a professional, clinical environment with clear protocols and supportive leadership.
Key Responsibilities
- Memory Care: Providing calm, patient, and empathetic care for a client with advanced cognitive decline.
- Clinical Care: Managing an indwelling foley catheter (emptying, cleaning, and monitoring for infection).
- Mobility Support: Performing safe transfers using a mechanical lift (Hoyer) and providing passive range-of-motion exercises.
- ADLs: Full assistance with bathing, dressing, incontinence care, and skin integrity monitoring.
- Safety: Maintaining a clean, sterile environment around the patient's bedside and documenting vitals/changes in condition.
Requirements
- Experience: Minimum 2 years of professional caregiving experience (CNA or HHA preferred).
- Skills: Demonstrated proficiency with foley catheter care and mechanical lifts.
- Reliability: Extreme punctuality is required for this 24/7 care rotation.
- Background: Must be willing to undergo a comprehensive background check and be listed (or eligible for listing) on the Illinois Healthcare Worker Registry.
