Adult Education Part-Time Evening ESL Teacher
Location: Watertown High School, 324 French St, Watertown, CT
Reports to: Director of Adult Education
Part-Time: 6:00 - 8:00 PM on Mondays & Wednesdays
Salary: $33.10/hour
The position is open until filled - anticipated start date: August 15, 2026
Job Description: Provides high-quality English language instruction to adult learners, delivering standards-based lessons that promote English proficiency, workforce readiness, and successful achievement of students' educational and personal goals.
Major Responsibilities:

Plan and deliver instruction aligned with English Language Proficiency (ELP) standards.

Create a positive learning environment that is supportive and safe for all learners

Use a variety of instructional strategies to engage learners and develop sound foundational skills and transferable speaking & literacy skills
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Sensitive to the needs of adult learners aged 18+

Knowledge of a wide variety of strategies and linguistic supports to support instruction

Ability to use classroom technology such as a laptop, projector, and interactive board to enhance instruction
Qualifications/Requirements:

CT Certification #088 (Non-English Speaking Adults) is required.

A bachelor's degree is required; Bachelor's or Master's degree in education is preferred

Demonstrated ability to work well with people from many different backgrounds and cultures

Experience teaching adult learners who speak multiple languages

Attuned to the specific learning needs of adult students.
