POSITION SUMMARY
The Community Engagement Coordinator at the Kansas Distribution Center (KDC) is responsible for creating a positive and impactful experience for volunteers, both onsite and off-site events. This Tuesday – Saturday role manages group reservations, leads volunteer orientations, and ensures volunteers are informed, prepared, and connected to the organization's mission.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
Kansas Distribution Center (KDC) Duties
- Supervise and assist volunteers during Saturday shifts, serving as the primary point of contact for onsite questions, needs, and troubleshooting to ensure a positive, productive, and safe experience.

Work closely with the First Impressions Coordinator to maintain consistent front desk coverage during business hours, Tuesday through Saturday.
Volunteer Engagement Group Reservations

Coordinate reservations for the KDC, ensuring timely communication, accurate details, and efficient scheduling.
- Collaborate with the Kansas City Coordinator to provide additional assistance during peak volunteer seasons.

Provide group leaders with clear details on program guidelines, risk management considerations, and logistical requirements prior to their visit.

Track and document group participation and volunteer hours for reporting and compliance.
Onsite Volunteer Experience

Collaborate daily with Volunteer Engagement Center (VEC) to confirm and share accurate volunteer counts.

Oversee volunteer check-in, ensuring all participants sign in and required waivers are properly filed.

Lead volunteer orientations, deliver clear program details, expectations, and safety guidelines.

Create a positive volunteer experience by ensuring participants are informed, confident, and ready to serve.

Provide support to VEC staff assisting with coverage during volunteer shifts as needed.
Volunteer Engagement at Off-Site EventsPacking Opportunities

Lead food drive engagements by planning and managing logistics-including scheduling, material preparation, and partner communication-to ensure smooth implementation of off-site packing activities.

Coordinate and oversee event setup, including transportation, volunteers, and supply management.

Represent Harvesters at off-site events, fostering relationships with community partners and volunteers.

Prepare post-event reports to support organizational goals and continuous improvement efforts.

OTHER ASPECTS OF THE JOB

This position requires comfort with light physical activities such as standing, walking, bending, and lifting, as well as the ability to drive a large cargo van and operate power equipment.
- Demonstrate flexibility to work occasional evenings and weekends in support of community engagement events and organizational initiatives.

Maintain a thorough comprehension of Harvesters' food safety policies and consistently follow all procedures to ensure full compliance.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS

High school diploma or equivalent; associate degree or higher preferred.

Proven customer service experience in front desk, administrative, or hospitality settings.

Strong relational and communication skills, both verbal and written.

Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment with accuracy and attention to detail.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and familiarity with basic database or scheduling systems.
