JOB
MUST BE A CURRENT EMPLOYEE OF THE LOUISVILLE METRO POLICE DEPARTMENT.
The purpose of this position is to assist the Director with managing the Victim Services Unit’s mission, goals, tasks, and resources for implementation of the support and advocacy services provided by the unit. Additionally, this position assists the Director with planning, organizing, monitoring and coordinating the daily activities of the Victim Services Unit.
This class works under general supervision, independently developing work methods and sequences. EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
The essential functions listed below are those that represent the majority of the time spent working in this class. Management may assign additional functions related to the type of work of the class as necessary.
Supervises, directs, and evaluates assigned staff, processing employee concerns and problems, directing work, counseling, disciplining, and completing employee performance appraisals.
Coordinates, assigns and reviews work and establishes work schedules; maintains standards; monitors status of work in progress; inspects completed work assignments; answers questions; gives advice and direction as needed.
Provides training to police officers, academy personnel, or any other relevant groups.
Provides public information to various agencies, departments and civilian groups as requested to enhance the public's awareness of the program.
Provides emergency backup to the Victim Services Specialists during regular office hours, as well as after hours and weekend on-call schedules.
Maintains accurate records and case management reports.
Creates, maintains, and enhances internal training documents, as well as trains new employees assigned to the Victim Services Unit.
Reviews police reports for case assignment and assigns cases daily. Conducts caseload reviews to ensure quality of services to victims and appropriate entry of cases into the Victim Services Unit case management system.
Attends meetings and trainings on behalf of the Victim Services Unit.
Acts as the Commander of the Unit should the Director be unavailable.
Manages the internship program and supervises interns.
Performs related work as assigned.
