General Summary:
Apart from seasonal shift adjustments and emergency operation events when one is expected to be available 24/7, year-round, this position would work the following 40-hour schedule: Monday and Tuesday serving the Water Department (7:30am – 4pm), Wednesday through Friday serving the Highway Division (6:00am – 2:30 pm),
Supervision Received:
Works under the direct supervision of the Highway Lead Foreman and the Water Lead Foreman and the general supervision of the Public Works Director. Must be able to take instruction and be able to perform duties without direct supervision. Work will be reviewed for conformance with instructions given and for the safety and care exercised in operating equipment.

Essential Job Functions and Responsibilities:
· Within the Highway Division, the tasks assigned to this position typically involve road maintenance activities, operation of dump trucks, construction equipment, roadside mowers and the like. Tasks will include winter plowing activities.
· Within the Water Division, the tasks assigned to this position typically involve the maintenance of the Town’s water production, treatment and distribution system including the daily water treatment plant monitoring and testing duties, semiannual backflow testing, quarterly meter reading activities, semi-annual hydrant flushing, available to respond to emergency water system emergencies during non-workday hours.

Performs other related duties as required by supervisor.
Qualifications Required:
High School or equivalent, with relevant experience required. Knowledge of Microsoft and Excel preferred. Experience in the operation and maintenance of construction and heavy equipment; possession of CDL A or B is preferred. Must complete pre-employment screening, random drug testing and background check.
Knowledge of:
Knowledge of and the ability to use various hand and power tools used in municipal maintenance work. Knowledge of the work hazards, safety practices and traffic laws relating to equipment operation and the operation of equipment under inclement conditions (Town of Raymond Safety Manual Policies). Knowledge in operation and care of maintenance and construction equipment. Ability to understand, follow and give oral and written instructions. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with department heads, Town officials, employees and the general public.
Water Division: Knowledge of functions, safety and operating methods and care required for duty trucks, equipment and tools utilized in the maintenance and management of the Town’s water production, treatment and distribution system.
Highway Division: Knowledge of functions, safety and operating methods and care required for the heavy-duty trucks and equipment used in the construction and maintenance of public roads and related utilities during the winter.

Attends additional classes related to position.
Working Conditions:
The nature of this position requires participation in physical activities, including excessive heavy lifting and carrying; therefore, the employee is required to be in, and maintain, upper and lower body strength and good overall physical condition. Work is performed in a variety of environmental conditions, including heat, cold, wet, icy, slippery, muddy, noisy. etc., Duties also require sufficient mobility to work in a typical office setting and use standard office equipment.
Pay: $21.50 - $25.40 per hour
