Responsibilities
- Measure customers accurately to determine alteration needs, ensuring a perfect fit every time
- Use sewing machines and hand-sewing techniques to modify garments according to specifications
- Perform garment construction adjustments, including hemming, taking in or letting out seams, and resizing
- Communicate clearly with customers about alteration options, timelines, and pricing to ensure satisfaction
- Maintain a clean, organized workspace and ensure all tools and equipment are in excellent condition
- Collaborate with team members to manage multiple alteration requests efficiently during busy periods
- Keep detailed records of each alteration job for quality control and customer reference
Qualifications
- Proven experience in sewing, garment construction, or alterations within a fashion retail setting or similar environment
- Proficiency with sewing machines and hand-sewing techniques required
- Strong understanding of clothing fit, fabric types, and garment construction principles
- Excellent customer service skills with the ability to communicate clearly and professionally
- Basic math skills for measurements, calculations, and pricing estimates
- Ability to work efficiently under pressure while maintaining high-quality craftsmanship
- Knowledge of fashion retail operations is a plus but not mandatory
