While this position is primarily reception-focused, candidates with previous veterinary assistant or veterinary technician experience, or those with the skills and willingness to assist with patient care when needed, are strongly preferred. Responsibilities
- Greet clients warmly, answer inquiries, and schedule appointments with efficiency and professionalism
- Manage medical records, client communications, and appointment bookings using veterinary software systems
- Collect payments, process insurance claims, and handle medical collections accurately and ethically
- Assist with animal handling, restraint, and basic animal husbandry to support veterinary procedures when needed
- Maintain cleanliness and organization at the front desk and reception area to ensure a professional environment
- Support veterinary staff with administrative tasks such as filing, and lab sample processing
- Communicate clearly with clients regarding pet care instructions, surgery preparations, or follow-up care details
Skills
- Strong knowledge of veterinary terminology, medical-surgical procedures, and companion animal medicine
- Experience with veterinary software platforms and Microsoft Office applications for record keeping and communication
- Excellent customer service skills with the ability to handle sensitive situations professionally
- Ability to perform animal restraint safely using proper techniques; dog handling experience preferred
- Effective communication skills for client interaction and team collaboration in a fast-paced environment
