To serve the increasing demands of Summers & Zim’s clients by performing residential electrical repairs, installations, and upgrades. The Electrical Technician reports directly to the Service Manager & Dispatcher.
Jobsite Expectations
- Explain to the client what service you are performing, and use the pricing guide to properly provide the client with a price prior to work being completed
- Wear floor savers while in the client’s home and maintain a neat, safe work environment
- Re-check all electrical repairs and new installations before leaving the client’s home to ensure the work was completed correctly and safely the first time
- Assess the whole home’s electrical needs, not just the immediate problem
- Never sell the client a repair or upgrade they don’t need
- Explain the benefits of club membership to clients, giving them the opportunity to join, and ensure that club membership customers receive the added benefits under their membership
- Engage with the client to answer any questions and ensure all expectations of the service call were achieved to their satisfaction
Industry Knowledge Expectations
- Minimum 2–5 years of residential electrical experience required; lead and supervisory roles require 5+ years
- Working knowledge of service upgrades, panel changes, and circuit troubleshooting
- Experience with recessed lighting installation, generator hookups, and EV charger installation
- Working knowledge of current NEC code and its residential applications
- Possession of required hand tools for residential electrical work
- Journeyman or Master Electrician license is a plus
- Willingness to participate in learning opportunities presented by Summers & Zim’s to remain current with code updates and industry changes
