The Patient Companion participates in the delivery of patient care in an effective and efficient manner and assists with direct and indirect patient care. In the Float Pool, you will work with a mixed population of patients in numerous units, departments and/or locations while learning from many of our best caregivers.
A caregiver in this role works 6:45 p.m. - 7:15 a.m., with weekend and holiday requirements.
A caregiver who excels in this role will:
Assist/accompany the patient at all times including transport, tests, transfers , ambulation . Remain with patient .
Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
Completion of a hospital-based patient companion training program or equivalent experience ( In lieu of experience, candidates may also be currently enrolled at an accredited school of nursing, with completion of a nursing fundamentals course or have completed hospital based NA/PC orientation or equivalent)
Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
Physical Requirements:
- Requires full body motion to move and lift patients, manual finger dexterity with good eye-hand coordination; involves extensive standing and walking.
- Medium Work - Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
- Physical Demand requirements are in excess of those for Light Work.
Personal Protective Equipment:
- Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
