We are looking for a dependable, organized, and compassionate part-time medical assistant to support our physician and help ensure a smooth, professional experience for every patient who visits the clinic.
Position Summary
The medical assistant will provide both clinical and administrative support during patient visits. The ideal candidate is comfortable working in a fast-paced medical environment, communicates well with patients, is highly organized, and can work independently while supporting the physician and front-office team.
Experience in pain management, orthopedics, neurology, physical medicine, interventional medicine, or a specialty medical practice is preferred but not required.
Key ResponsibilitiesPatient & Clinical Support
- Prepare examination and treatment rooms before patient visits.
- Welcome patients and escort them to examination rooms.
- Obtain and document patient vital signs, medical history, medication information, allergies, and reason for visit.
- Prepare patients for examination and procedures.
- Assist the physician during examinations and in-office procedures as permitted by training and applicable regulations.
- Ensure necessary patient information, imaging reports, laboratory results, and other records are available for the physician.
- Update patient charts accurately in the Electronic Health Record (EHR) system.
- Review and maintain patient medication lists and other clinical information.
- Provide patients with physician-approved instructions regarding follow-up appointments, testing, referrals, and treatment plans.
- Maintain appropriate infection-control and patient-safety standards.
Pain Management / Procedure Support
- Prepare procedure rooms, equipment, and supplies for pain management procedures.
- Assist with setup and turnover of rooms between patients.
- Ensure appropriate supplies are available before procedures.
- Follow proper cleaning, sterilization, and infection-prevention procedures.
- Help coordinate follow-up care after procedures as directed by the physician.
- Assist with obtaining relevant imaging, medical records, referrals, and documentation needed for patient care.
Administrative Support
- Assist with scheduling patient appointments and follow-up visits when needed.
- Answer and route patient questions appropriately.
- Help obtain medical records from referring physicians, imaging centers, pharmacies, and other healthcare facilities.
- Assist with referral coordination and tracking.
- Help ensure patient charts are complete before appointments.
- Scan, upload, and organize clinical documents within the appropriate systems.
- Assist with prescription-related administrative requests and route them to the physician when required.
- Support prior authorization and insurance-related documentation when needed.
- Communicate professionally with pharmacies, referring providers, insurance companies, and other healthcare organizations.
- Assist the team with general clinic operations during busy periods.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Completion of a medical assistant program preferred.
- CMA, RMA, CCMA, or similar certification is preferred but not required depending on experience.
- Previous experience working in a physician's office, outpatient clinic, or specialty medical practice preferred.
- Experience with pain management, orthopedics, neurology, physical medicine, or procedural medicine is a plus.
- Comfortable using EHR/EMR systems and learning new healthcare software.
- Basic understanding of medical terminology.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to maintain patient confidentiality and comply with HIPAA requirements.
- Ability to remain professional and compassionate when interacting with patients who may be experiencing significant or chronic pain.
- Reliable, punctual, and able to work independently as well as collaboratively with a small clinical team.

Physical Requirements
The position may require:
- Standing and walking for portions of the workday.
- Assisting with patient positioning when appropriate.
- Moving and organizing medical supplies.
- Performing routine clinical duties requiring manual dexterity.

Schedule
This is a part-time position. Specific days and hours will be determined based on the clinic's patient schedule and operational needs.
Flexibility to occasionally adjust hours based on physician or patient scheduling is preferred.
Compensation
Competitive hourly compensation based on experience, qualifications, and relevant medical practice experience.
