Position Description: Position Summary
The Dishwasher is responsible for maintaining the cleanliness and sanitation of all kitchen equipment, dishware, cookware, and food preparation areas. This position plays a critical role in supporting the culinary team by ensuring a clean, organized, and efficient kitchen operation while adhering to Marriott standards and local health department regulations.
Essential Responsibilities
Dishwashing & Sanitation
Wash, sanitize, and properly store all dishes, glassware, silverware, pots, pans, and kitchen utensils.
Operate commercial dishwashing equipment safely and efficiently.
Ensure proper sanitation procedures are followed at all times.
Maintain cleanliness of dishwashing stations and surrounding work areas.
Empty and clean dish machines, sinks, and floor drains as required.
Monitor and replenish cleaning chemicals and supplies.
Kitchen Support
Assist kitchen staff with maintaining a clean and organized workspace.
Remove trash, recycling, and food waste from kitchen and service areas.
Sweep, mop, and sanitize kitchen floors throughout the shift.
Assist with receiving and storing deliveries when needed.
Support banquet and restaurant operations by ensuring dishware and kitchen equipment are readily available.
Help transport clean dishes and supplies to appropriate storage locations.
Health & Safety Compliance
Follow all hotel, company, and health department sanitation standards.
Maintain a safe working environment by promptly cleaning spills and hazards.
Properly handle cleaning chemicals and equipment.
Adhere to food safety and workplace safety procedures at all times.
Report maintenance issues, equipment malfunctions, or safety concerns to management immediately.
Teamwork & Professionalism
Work collaboratively with cooks, servers, banquet staff, and supervisors.
Maintain a positive attitude and professional appearance.
Assist other departments as needed during busy periods.
Support hotel events, banquets, and special functions by ensuring adequate supply of clean dishware and kitchen equipment.
Qualifications
Previous dishwashing, stewarding, or kitchen experience preferred but not required.
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
Strong work ethic and attention to detail.
Ability to follow instructions and work as part of a team.
Dependable attendance and punctuality.
Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, holidays, and special events.
Physical Requirements
Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50 pounds.
Ability to work in hot, wet, and fast-paced kitchen environments.
Frequent bending, reaching, stooping, and lifting.
