Epic Ambulatory Project Manager (Contract)
We are seeking an experienced Epic Ambulatory Project Manager to lead the successful implementation of new ambulatory clinic sites, including urgent care acquisitions, new clinic builds, and multi-specialty clinic expansions. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in a large healthcare organization's ongoing growth strategy through 2027.
The ideal candidate is an experienced healthcare IT project manager with a proven track record of leading Epic Ambulatory implementations from planning through go-live. This position requires strong leadership, excellent communication skills, and the ability to coordinate cross-functional teams in a fast-paced healthcare environment.
Position Details
- Start Date: ASAP
- Employment Type: Full-time Contract
- Initial Contract Length: 6 months, with strong potential for extension
- Work Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8:00 AM-5:00 PM Pacific Time
- Location: Remote with approximately 25% travel required
- Travel Requirements: Onsite presence is required during project planning, implementation activities, and go-live support.
- Time Zone: Pacific Time preferred; Eastern Time candidates are welcome but must be available during Pacific business hours.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead end-to-end Epic Ambulatory implementation projects for new clinic openings, acquisitions, and expansion initiatives.
- Develop and manage comprehensive project plans, timelines, milestones, budgets, and risk mitigation strategies.
- Coordinate implementation activities across clinical, operational, IT, Epic application, and executive leadership teams.
- Facilitate project meetings, provide regular status updates, and communicate project progress to stakeholders.
- Manage project scope, identify risks and dependencies, and implement effective solutions to keep projects on schedule.
- Support workflow analysis, operational readiness, and change management activities throughout the implementation lifecycle.
- Coordinate go-live planning, activation support, and post-implementation stabilization.
- Collaborate with Epic analysts, infrastructure teams, vendors, and business leaders to ensure successful project delivery.
- Ensure projects meet organizational quality standards, timelines, and business objectives.
- Maintain project documentation and provide executive-level reporting throughout the engagement.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Healthcare Administration, Information Technology, Business, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- 5+ years of healthcare IT project management experience.
- Demonstrated experience leading Epic Ambulatory implementation projects.
- Experience managing new clinic activations, healthcare acquisitions, or ambulatory expansion initiatives.
- Strong understanding of healthcare operations and clinical workflows.
- Excellent organizational, communication, and leadership skills.
- Experience managing multiple stakeholders across clinical, operational, and technical teams.
- Ability to travel approximately 25% for onsite planning and go-live activities.
Preferred Qualifications
- Epic Ambulatory Certification preferred.
- Epic Cadence Certification is a plus.
- Project Management Professional (PMP) certification or equivalent project management credential strongly preferred.
- Experience supporting urgent care implementations or multi-specialty clinic environments.
- Experience working within large healthcare systems or integrated delivery networks.
