We serve clients statewide with offices in Meridian, Idaho Falls, Pocatello, and Twin Falls, as well as the broader Boise Metro area. As we continue to grow, we are seeking a motivated new or early-career attorney to join our team and develop their practice under the mentorship of Idaho’s most experienced bankruptcy attorneys.
About the Role
This in-office, hybrid or fully remote, entry-level attorney position is ideal for a recent law school graduate or newly barred attorney looking to launch their legal career in bankruptcy law. No prior practice experience is required — we provide comprehensive mentorship, hands-on training, and structured supervision from our team of seasoned bankruptcy attorneys. Candidates who prefer an in-office or hybrid arrangement are welcome to work from one of our office locations in Idaho Falls, Pocatello, Twin Falls, or Meridian.

- Fully remote — open to all Idaho-based candidates
- Hybrid candidates preferred to be within commuting distance of Idaho Falls, Pocatello, Twin Falls, or Meridian
What You Will Learn & Do
Under the supervision and mentorship of senior Avery Law attorneys, you will:
- Assist in representing individual clients in Chapter 7 and Chapter 13 bankruptcy proceedings
- Learn to prepare and file petitions, schedules, statements of financial affairs, and supporting bankruptcy documents
- Advise clients on debt relief options, exemptions, and the bankruptcy process under close supervision
- Attend and participate in 341 meetings, confirmation hearings, and other court proceedings
- Communicate with clients, trustees, and opposing counsel with guidance from senior attorneys
- Develop working knowledge of the U.S. Bankruptcy Code, Federal Rules of Bankruptcy Procedure, and Idaho local rules
- Maintain accurate case files, billing records, and client communications
- Grow into independent case management as your skills and confidence develop
Required Qualifications
- Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an ABA-accredited law school
- Active membership in good standing with the Idaho State Bar (or scheduled to sit for the Idaho Bar Exam)
- Strong academic record and demonstrated interest in bankruptcy, debtor/creditor, or related areas of law
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Self-motivated with the ability to work independently in a remote environment
- Proficiency with standard legal research tools (Westlaw, LexisNexis, or equivalent)
Preferred Qualifications
No prior experience is required, but the following will strengthen your application:
- Law school coursework in bankruptcy law, commercial law, creditor/debtor rights, or secured transactions
- Law clinic, externship, or internship experience in a legal setting
- Law review, moot court, or other legal writing experience
- Familiarity with CM/ECF or other electronic court filing systems
- Previous exposure to client-facing work in any context
