Position Summary
The Commercial Painting Estimator will be responsible for reviewing plans and specifications, preparing accurate takeoffs, developing competitive bids, and helping secure profitable projects. The ideal candidate has experience estimating commercial painting projects, particularly multifamily, apartments, mixed-use developments, and other new construction work.
Responsibilities
- Review project plans, specifications, and bid documents.
- Perform quantity takeoffs and prepare detailed estimates.
- Solicit and evaluate subcontractor and supplier pricing.
- Prepare proposals and bid submissions.
- Analyze project risks and identify value-engineering opportunities.
- Maintain relationships with general contractors, developers, and project managers.
- Participate in bid reviews and project handoff meetings.
- Track bid results and maintain estimating records.
- Assist ownership and operations teams with project planning and budgeting.
- Identify and pursue new bidding opportunities.
Qualifications
- 3+ years of estimating experience in commercial construction.
- Painting estimating experience preferred.
- Experience with multifamily/apartment construction strongly preferred.
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications.
- Strong understanding of construction costs, labor production rates, and material pricing.
- Proficiency with estimating software and Microsoft Office.
- Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Self-motivated with the ability to manage multiple bids and deadlines.
