Key Responsibilities
- Perform surgical pathology specimen gross examination and dissection.
- Assist pathologists with specimen processing and examination.
- Prepare tissue specimens for histological processing.
- Ensure accurate specimen identification, labeling, and documentation.
- Maintain compliance with CAP, CLIA, OSHA, and laboratory quality standards.
- Operate and troubleshoot laboratory equipment as needed.
- Document patient information accurately using EPIC EMR.
- Collaborate with pathologists, histotechnologists, and laboratory professionals.
- Maintain laboratory safety, quality assurance, and infection control standards.
Required Qualifications
- ASCP Certification (Required)
- Graduate of an accredited Pathology Assistant Program
- High School Diploma or GED
- 2–3 years of post-high school pathology training
- 1–2 years of Pathology Assistant experience preferred
- Surgical specimen grossing experience preferred
- Strong knowledge of surgical pathology procedures and laboratory protocols
- Excellent communication, organization, and teamwork skills
