Job Summary:
The Base Camp Facilitator helps lead group programs that use challenge and reflection to teach soft skills. This role is a balance of two critical halves: facilitating group initiatives (team-building and ground-based challenges) and managing high ropes and rock wall elements. Operating primarily in our indoor facility, you will work with everyone from school-aged kids to corporate teams. You need to be just as comfortable leading a reflection on teamwork as you are managing technical safety 30 feet in the air. Your goal is to provide a physically and emotionally safe space where groups can push their limits, handle stress constructively, and walk away with lessons they can use in the real world.
Essential Duties (May include, but not limited to):
1. Plans activities that are relevant to the group training objectives.
2. Maintains physical and emotional safety for all user groups and self.
3. Responsible for the safety of all elements used.
4. Responsible for props and equipment needed for the specific program.
5. Conducts an adventure program that is experiential in nature and action oriented.
6. Directs outcomes of user groups through sequenced activities, processing and feedback.
7. Enhances, reflects, transfers, and supports learning and change.
8. Addresses concerns, and deals with conflict, and emotions constructively.
9. Evaluates the effectiveness of the program.
10. Assists core staff as needed or directed.
11. Achieves and maintains certification in CPR, First Aid, and safety related practices as directed.
12. Maintains activity certifications by participating in professional development activities and workshops as directed.
13. Provides information and instruction to user groups.
14. Records equipment use information inspects and stores as needed.
15. Participates in "In – House" staff training.
16. Maintains program and operational standards and procedures as directed.
17. Consistently models win-win leadership.
Other Duties:
1. Performs routine tasks necessary to facilitate the responsibilities in the assigned area.
2. Performs other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Education:
High school diploma required. Other formal training related to essential functions preferred.
To Be Obtained Upon Hiring:
Will be required to complete the following certifications/trainings upon hiring:
1. Site Specific training provided by certified ESI trainer
2. CPR and First Aid Certification
Successful completion and maintenance of certifications is a condition of employment. Additional certifications will be required from time to time as a condition of continued employment.
Familiarity with portable initiatives and cooperative activities. Knowledge of group dynamics, excellent facilitation skills, and a solid understanding of experiential education models. Successful training and experience in High Ropes Course(s), Rock Wall and Ground Initiatives.
Experience:
Training and experience working with all ages and older populations preferred but not required.
