Vylor has an exciting opportunity for a Seed Inventory Specialist based in Grimes, Iowa. This role is ideal for individuals who enjoy solving complex problems, working in a fast-paced and dynamic environment, and applying cutting-edge technology to seed handling and inventory management.
The Seed Inventory Specialist is responsible for the management of seed inventory at the centralized research inventory warehouse. This role ensures compliance with quality standards, safety protocols, and operational efficiency, while providing critical support to Research & Development (R&D) initiatives across the North America packaging network.
What You'll Do:
- Primary site contact for the physical management of seed inventory, ensuring accuracy, traceability, and timely availability.
- Lead Inventory reconciliation processes of both automated and bulk seed storage ensuring inventory accuracy.
- Manage automated retrieval systems to ensure continuous uptime and efficient seed inventory picking and put away.
- Oversee seed inventory routing and movements throughout the warehouse to support operational needs.
- Execute implementation of inventory specifications including seed retention criteria, discard rules, and quality testing requirements.
- Coordinate the inventory discard process for the centralized inventory site.
- Maintain strong alignment and close collaboration with all site operations to respond quickly to changing demands and priorities.
- Develop, implement, and enforce quality control policies and procedures, ensuring compliance with internal and regulatory standards.
- Maintain accurate operational and inventory records, track key performance indicators (KPIs), and prepare reports for stakeholders.
- Monitor process performance and drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency, speed, and quality.
- Plan and optimize the use of labor, infrastructure, and equipment to meet operational objectives.
- Oversee inventory team members in daily activities, promoting adherence to procedures and best practices.
- Promote and uphold a strong safety culture, ensuring compliance with all safety policies, procedures, and required training.
What You Need:
- Bachelor’s degree in Agribusiness, Agronomy, Supply Chain Management, or related field (or equivalent experience)
- 2+ years of experience in seed operations, logistics, or agricultural research preferred
- Ability to work in a warehouse environment with varying temperatures, stand for extended periods, and lift up to 50 lbs.
- Strong organizational and problem-solving abilities
- Familiarity with quality systems and safety regulations
- Excellent communication and reporting skills
