Columbia Machine, Inc. is a U.S.-based manufacturer headquartered in Vancouver, Washington. For over 85 years, we’ve been building machinery used in concrete production, mold manufacturing, material handling, and palletizing. We are currently hiring a Paint Department Specialist to join our Paint team and help ensure our equipment is finished to the highest quality standards before reaching customers around the world.
About the Role
As a Paint Department Specialist, you'll play a vital role in supporting the paint department by preparing, staging, and organizing parts for the painting process. You'll ensure painters have everything they need to work efficiently by identifying parts, staging jobs by color, maintaining accurate job tracking, and delivering completed parts to assembly.
This position is ideal for someone who enjoys staying organized, working in a fast-paced manufacturing environment, and being an essential part of a team that keeps production moving. Attention to detail, teamwork, and a commitment to safety are key to success in this role.
What You'll Do
- Prepare and stage parts for painting based on production schedules and color requirements
- Identify parts using prints, job travelers, and the Vault Tool
- Clean, sand, and prepare parts prior to painting
- Hang and orient parts correctly on racks and prepare paint rack tags
- Track work orders and maintain accurate production documentation
- Operate forklifts and overhead cranes to safely move materials
- Deliver completed painted parts to assembly
- Assist painters, blasters, and team members with loading and unloading paint booths
- Stock paint supplies and help maintain paint booths and equipment
- Participate in 6S and continuous improvement initiatives
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area
What You Bring
- High School Diploma or GED required
- 1+ years of experience in a paint department, manufacturing, or related field preferred
- Basic print reading and job interpretation skills
- Forklift experience or ability to obtain certification
- Comfortable using Microsoft Office and ERP systems for job tracking
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to safely use hand tools and material handling equipment
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills
- Ability to work on multiple projects in a fast-paced environment
