Position Summary
We are seeking Electrical Designers to support senior engineers and discipline leads in the development of power distribution systems, emergency power systems, standby generation, and related building systems designs. This role focuses on production, drafting, coordination, and technical documentation for federal healthcare and infrastructure projects. The ideal candidate is detail oriented, organized, and comfortable working in a fast paced, multi discipline environment while contributing to accurate, compliant, and constructible design documents.
Key Responsibilities
- Support electrical design across schematic, design development, and construction document phases
- Prepare Revit and AutoCAD drawings including plans, sections, details, schedules, and equipment layouts
- Assist with load calculations, equipment selections, and system layouts under engineer direction
- Develop and update specifications, schedules, and technical documentation
- Incorporate redlines and QC comments and maintain drawing standards and consistency
- Coordinate models and drawings with architectural, electrical, structural, and fire protection disciplines
- Assist with submittal reviews, RFIs, and construction period documentation
- Organize and maintain project files, calculations, and design records
- Support site visits, surveys, and existing condition documentation as needed
- Provide general production and administrative support to the mechanical team
Required Qualifications
- Associate or Bachelor’s degree: Electrical Engineering Technology, Drafting, or related field, or equivalent experience
- 5-10 years of experience in electrical design or drafting for building systems
- Proficiency in Revit MEP and AutoCAD
- Working knowledge of electrical systems and construction documents
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow established standards and redlines
- Ability to manage multiple assignments and deadlines
- Eligible to work in the U.S.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience supporting federal or healthcare facility projects
- Familiarity with VA, UFC, NFPA, ASHRAE, or similar standards
- Experience working with VA, DoD, or other federal agencies.
- Knowledge of NFPA, NEC, and healthcare facility design standards.
- Experience with backup power systems, electrical reliability, and critical infrastructure.
- Experience with Bluebeam and load calculation software such as Trace or similar
- Exposure to specifications writing and construction administration support
