STAFF DEVELOPMENT Creates systems to accomplish educational goals/objectives that improve patient care, nursing practice, and clinical outcomes. Demonstrates the ability to educate bedside clinicians regarding assessment, critical thinking and intervention. Assists staff the coordination of total patient care managing the biophysical and psychosocial needs of the patient in a family oriented environment. Shares knowledge with staff by developing formal in-services as well as point of care skill development. At request of nurse manager, assesses unit specific educational needs and implements varied in-services based on assessment findings. Inclusion of current research and evidenced based practice as a component of the curriculum.
NEW EMPLOYEE Plans, develops and coordinate the didactic orientation program for the new graduates and newly hired nursing staff. Adapts the orientation process to accommodate staff with varying degrees of experience. Matches new nursing staff with preceptors. Monitors staff/preceptor progress. Provides feedback to Nurse Managers regarding professional progress of new staff members.
