About the Role
Intelligent Weighing Technology is looking for a dependable, positive person to join our small team as a Part-Time Operations Assistant.
This is a hands-on position supporting the daily flow of our business. You’ll help prepare customer orders, receive incoming products, keep inventory organized, complete basic shipping and computer tasks, and generally help make sure things run smoothly.
We are a small company dealing primarily with precision weighing and laboratory instruments, so our environment is calm, clean, highly organized, and VERY detail-oriented. We are not trying to move thousands of packages a day. We care much more about getting things right than getting things done at breakneck speed.
Our systems are straightforward, the job is straight forward, and we are happy to train the right person.
For us, the right person is someone who shows up with a good attitude, enjoys being productive, pays attention to details, and is willing to learn.
What You’ll Be Doing
Your day will typically include a mix of:
- Preparing and packing customer orders
- Checking products and model numbers for accuracy
- Receiving and putting away incoming products
- Using simple computer-based order and inventory system
- Keeping products, supplies, and work areas organized/clean
- Helping maintain orderly and organized inventory
- Assisting other team members with day-to-day operational needs
- Occasionally helping with larger incoming shipments
- Taking on other practical projects as they come up

Your previous job title matters less to us than how you work. We are open to candidates from customer service, retail, office support, hospitality, education, small business, or other backgrounds where being dependable, organized, and pleasant to work with was important. We are happy to train the operational side of the position.
Local Position
This position is intended for someone who is already local to the Port Townsend area and ready to jump in.
Please do not relocate for this position. We are specifically looking for a local candidate who can become part of the team without a relocation or long-distance transition.

Our products are specialized and often expensive, so we value precision over speed. Taking an extra time to confirm that the correct instrument is being shipped, that something is packaged properly, or all the way down to the tape being straight is a good thing and expected.
We can teach our processes. We can teach our products. We can teach someone how to use the equipment.
What is much harder to teach is reliability, attention to detail, curiosity, and a good attitude. Those are the things we are primarily looking for.
Schedule
Monday through Friday
8:00 AM–12:00 PM
This is a consistent 20-hour-per-week, part-time position.
About Intelligent Weighing Technology
Intelligent Weighing Technology is an established Port Townsend company specializing in professional weighing and laboratory instrumentation. We import high-quality equipment from Switzerland, Japan, and Taiwan and distribute it throughout the United States and Canada. Our customers are primarily equipment dealers and distributors across North America, who in turn serve a wide range of industrial/lab end users. We also in some cases work directly with laboratories, manufacturers, and other commercial and industrial customers on highly specialized equipment.
We have been in business for more than 25 years and operate with a small, close-knit team.
