Synergy Laboratories is currently seeking a dependable, detail-oriented Cytology-Preparatory Technician to join our team at our PLA location inside Springhill Medical Center.

The Cytology-Preparatory Technician plays an important role in preparing cytology specimens for review by cytotechnologists and pathologists, helping support timely and accurate patient care.
Position Summary
The Cytology-Preparatory Technician, under the supervision of the Cytology-Preparatory Supervisor and Laboratory Manager, is responsible for preparing all cytology specimens received in the laboratory. This role requires strong attention to detail, excellent organization, professionalism, and a commitment to maintaining specimen integrity throughout each step of the process.
Minimum Qualification
High school diploma or equivalent required.
Key Responsibilities
- Receive and prepare cytology specimens, including Pap smears and fine needle aspirations.
- Prepare cytology specimens for microscopic evaluation by a cytotechnologist and/or pathologist.
- Accurately accession cytology cases by verifying patient, clinical, and specimen information.
- Apply appropriate labels to paperwork, specimen containers, and slides.
- Identify and report discrepancies to the direct supervisor in a timely manner.
- Scan paperwork into Laserfiche.
- Operate laboratory equipment such as processors, stainers, cover slippers, and digital imagers according to established procedures.
- Maintain accurate records as required.
- Keep the work area clean, organized, and ready for daily laboratory operations.
- Follow all company policies, procedures, and quality standards.
- Interact professionally and respectfully with peers, management, administration, and pathologists.
- Work efficiently with minimal supervision while multitasking and prioritizing responsibilities.
