Join EnviroPest — Certified Pest Professional (Ithaca, NY)Protect Homes. Protect Families. Build a Career That Matters.
EnviroPest has spent decades delivering safe, effective, and eco-conscious pest control to families and businesses throughout Upstate New York and Pennsylvania. Developed in partnership with Cornell Cooperative Extension, our approach combines rigorous science with a genuine commitment to the health of every home we serve. We're growing our Ithaca team and looking for a Certified Pest Professional who takes real pride in the craft of pest management — someone who wants to do more than spray and go.
If you're driven by technical excellence, safety, and the satisfaction of solving problems for real people, this is a role where that expertise is valued, developed, and rewarded.
The Opportunity
As a Certified Pest Professional, you'll be the trusted expert who stands between our clients and the pests threatening their homes, businesses, and outdoor spaces. You'll bring together entomology knowledge, mechanical skill, and sharp customer instincts to inspect properties, diagnose problems, and deliver treatment plans that actually work — all while upholding the eco-friendly, family-safe standard EnviroPest is known for. This is a hands-on, outdoor-driven role for someone who thrives on variety, independence, and craftsmanship.
What You'll Do
- Conduct thorough property inspections using hand tools, ladders, and specialized equipment to pinpoint pest activity, entry points, and conducive conditions
- Design and carry out Integrated Pest Management (IPM) treatment plans tailored to each property, consistent with EnviroPest's eco-friendly treatment philosophy
- Apply pesticides and chemical agents safely, following label instructions, NYS DEC regulations, and protocols for respiratory protection and confined space entry
- Install and service traps, bait stations, monitoring devices, and exclusion materials using solid mechanical know-how
- Operate a company vehicle responsibly, following all driving safety protocols for outdoor field work
- Build trust with clients through clear communication — explaining findings, treatment plans, and prevention tips in a way homeowners and business owners actually understand
- Maintain precise service records, pesticide application logs, and safety documentation for full regulatory compliance
- Follow every safety guideline rigorously: ladder safety, confined space entry, chemical handling, and PPE use
- Stay sharp on pest biology, emerging treatment technologies, and evolving state and federal regulations
- Spot and communicate additional service opportunities (termite bonds, wildlife exclusion, seasonal mosquito/tick programs) that genuinely benefit the client
What You Bring
- Valid New York State DEC Pesticide Applicator Certification (Category 7A and/or 7B), or ability to obtain within a defined probationary period
- Demonstrated knowledge of pesticide application, pest identification, and entomology-based control methods
- Background in outdoor, hands-on work — lawn care, landscaping, farming, or agriculture experience is a strong plus
- Real mechanical aptitude: comfort with hand tools, power tools, and equipment like farm machinery or lawn equipment
- A clean driving record and the judgment to operate a company vehicle safely in the field
- Working knowledge of safety protocols: ladder use, confined space entry, respiratory protection, and chemical handling
- A customer-first communication style — calm, clear, and credible when explaining treatment to a homeowner or facilities manager
- Physical readiness for the job: lifting 25–50 lbs, climbing ladders, working in crawlspaces and attics, and staying effective in all types of weather
- A high school diploma or equivalent; 1+ years of pest control, termite, or wildlife management experience preferred
