Job Type: Full-time, part-time, seasonal
Location: Luckey’s Woodsman Food Truck — Bend, Oregon at Powder House / Basecamp Tavern
Reports To: Chef, Sous Chef, Ownership Team
About the Role
Luckey’s Woodsman is looking for a strong Food Truck Lead Cook to help launch and run our Bend food truck operation in the coming weeks.
This is not just a line cook role. This is a leadership position for someone who can cook with speed, stay organized in a small-space kitchen, communicate clearly, and help create a strong culture from day one.
Our food truck will be located at Powder House’s new food truck lot, Basecamp Tavern, and will be an important part of our next chapter in Bend. We are looking for someone who can lead service, support prep, guide cooks, manage daily flow, and help us bring the Luckey’s Woodsman experience to a fast-paced outdoor food truck environment.
This role is perfect for someone who loves cooking, takes pride in clean execution, enjoys guest interaction, and wants to be part of a growing Central Oregon food brand.
A Day in the Life of a Food Truck Lead
As the Food Truck Lead, you will help run the day-to-day operation of the truck during service. You will work hands-on on the line while also helping guide the team, protect food quality, maintain speed, and keep the truck clean, stocked, and organized.
You will be expected to lead by example, communicate with the Chef and Sous Chef, track prep and inventory needs, and help make sure the truck is set up for success every shift.
This role requires someone who can stay calm under pressure, solve problems quickly, and keep the team moving with a positive attitude.
Food Truck Lead Duties
You will:
- Lead daily food truck service with urgency, organization, and professionalism.
- Cook and plate menu items according to Luckey’s Woodsman recipes and standards.
- Help set up the truck before service, including stations, prep, sauces, garnishes, proteins, sides, packaging, and equipment.
- Break down, clean, and close the truck using closing checklists and food safety procedures.
- Help guide cooks and team members during service.
- Communicate clearly with the Chef, Sous Chef, and ownership team about inventory, prep needs, equipment issues, staffing needs, and guest feedback.
- Maintain quality, consistency, speed, and presentation during high-volume service.
- Help train new food truck cooks on recipes, station setup, cleaning standards, service flow, and food safety.
- Assist with prep lists, order guides, par levels, portion control, and waste tracking.
- Use FIFO, proper labeling, dating, cooling, storage, and food-handling procedures.
- Complete temperature logs and maintain food safety standards.
- Keep the truck clean, stocked, organized, and ready for service.
- Help take deliveries, rotate product, and communicate shortages or quality concerns.
- Operate and maintain food truck equipment safely.
- Work the line during peak hours while keeping a positive and approachable attitude.
- Support guest experience and represent Luckey’s Woodsman with pride.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by the Chef, Sous Chef, or ownership team.
Who We Are
Luckey’s Woodsman is a locally owned Central Oregon food service company with a restaurant in Sisters, a food truck operation in Bend, and an adventure catering service that takes us all over Central Oregon’s backcountry, events, weddings, corporate functions, and outdoor gatherings.
The original Luckey’s Woodsman opened in Springfield, Oregon on August 1st, 1956. Our owner grew up hearing stories about the restaurant empire his grandparents built across the Willamette Valley, along with the challenges that came with it. When Luckey’s Woodsman was relaunched in 2020, it came with a new mission: to bring that legacy back while helping change the direction of the hospitality industry.
We believe food, the outdoors, community, and a healthy team culture all belong together.
What We Believe
We believe the outdoors can help re-inspire people to enjoy cooking professionally again.
We believe hospitality can be better, healthier, and more team-driven than the old-school restaurant culture many of us grew up around.
We believe in high-quality, fresh, and sometimes wild ingredients.
We believe in supporting local farms, local businesses, and our Central Oregon community.
We believe Luckey’s Woodsman would not be what it is today without the people who show up, work hard, and care about the food we put out.
