Commercial Construction Senior Project Manager
Job description
Well established Commercial Construction Company is seeking a highly motivated self-starter for the position of superintendent for multiple projects throughout Southern California. Field Superintendent experience on mid-range scope, short duration construction projects is required.
The primary responsibility is to lead the in-house field teams and subcontractors efforts for multiple ongoing projects consisting of multi-discipline teams. Must have excellent verbal and written skills. This position will communicate with customers and senior management and must have the confidence and ability to express themselves concisely and effectively. Will rely on extensive work experience and judgment to plan and accomplish company goals.
Primary Duties:
- Manage and lead a cross-functional field operations team to ensure all customer and revenue commitments are met.
- Manage in-house crews and subcontractors on a daily basis, including monitoring and controlling performance.
- Ensure strictest adherence to quality standards.
- Ensure the work is installed in compliance with and conforms to the approved contract documents.
- Provide training and education to other team members.
- Maintain safe, secure and healthy work environment by following and enforcing company standards, procedures, jobsite rules and regulations, and complying with OSHA regulations.
- Communicate project status daily/weekly to Project Manager/Executives.
- Advise Project Manager/Executives of any unforeseen challenges which could impact schedule and suggest recovery actions where appropriate.
- Prepare daily/weekly/monthly reports in a timely manner.
- Manage, develop, and analyze work forecast.
- Track projects against budget and schedule.
- Develop and implement recovery plans for delayed schedules and unanticipated eventualities. Influence and escalate issues within design engineering and fulfillment strategies.
- Support project management team with problem solving strategies while executing improvements.
Qualifications:
- Multiple years of experience as field superintendent or in a construction management environment specializing in concrete, minor asphalt, millwork, commercial tenant improvement and remodeling.
- Proficient in reading and understanding plans, specifications, shop drawings, and project construction schedule.
- Must possess the ability to interact professionally with architects, designers, engineers, clients, subcontractors and fellow employees.
- Computer proficiency in MS Word / Excel / Project / Outlook.
- Detail oriented and good with paperwork and reports.
- Excellent written and verbal English language communication skills, bilingual a plus.
- Excellent knowledge and understanding of UBC Building Code.
- Must be highly organized and have the ability to multi-task in a fast paced environment.
- Previous repair and maintenance experience preferred in the commercial and retail industries as well as in banking and financial institutions.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $100,000.00 - $120,000.00 per year
