We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Emergency Room Registered Nurse to join our dynamic healthcare team. Your expertise will support rapid assessment, stabilization, and treatment of diverse patient populations, including individuals with complex medical needs such as trauma, infectious diseases, and chronic conditions. Duties
- Perform comprehensive patient assessments upon arrival, including vital signs, medical history review, and initial triage to prioritize care based on acuity levels.
- Administer medications and treatments accurately, including IV infusions, injections, suturing, and other procedures utilizing aseptic techniques.
- Monitor patients continuously using telemetry and other advanced equipment; respond promptly to emergent changes in condition.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to develop and implement individualized care plans aligned with best practices in emergency medicine.
- Document all patient interactions thoroughly within electronic health record (EHR) systems such as Epic or Cerner, ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Assist in diagnostic evaluations by collecting specimens for laboratory testing and supporting imaging procedures like CT scans or sonography.
- Provide education and emotional support to patients and their families during stressful situations while ensuring understanding of treatment plans.
- Maintain a sterile environment during invasive procedures such as catheterizations or spinal taps; ensure proper infection control protocols are followed.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives focused on trauma medicine, infectious disease care, or acute pain management to enhance patient outcomes.
- Support discharge planning by coordinating follow-up care, medication instructions, and referrals for specialized services like hospice or long-term care.
Requirements
- Valid registered nurse (RN) license in the relevant state or jurisdiction; current BLS (Basic Life Support) certification required; ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) preferred.
- Minimum of two years of emergency room experience within a Level I or Level II trauma center setting.
- Proficiency with EMR/EHR systems such as Epic or Cerner; experience documenting complex cases involving ICD coding (ICD-9/ICD-10).
- Strong clinical skills in airway management, ventilator support, IV insertion, suturing, and aseptic techniques.
- Demonstrated knowledge of physiology, anatomy, pharmacology related to emergency medicine, and critical care procedures.
- Experience working with diverse populations including pediatrics, geriatrics, individuals with disabilities or developmental delays.
- Familiarity with trauma medicine protocols, infectious disease management, pain control strategies, and trauma assessment tools.
- Ability to perform under pressure in high-stakes situations while maintaining professionalism and compassion.
- Excellent communication skills for effective collaboration with physicians, specialists (such as cardiology or ophthalmology), patients, and families.
- Commitment to ongoing professional development through certifications or training related to emergency nursing practices.
