Position Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI) to provide virtual educational support and specialized instruction to students with visual impairments throughout Illinois. This fully remote opportunity is ideal for educators who are passionate about promoting accessibility, independence, and academic success for students with diverse visual needs.
The ideal candidate will have experience supporting students with visual impairments, collaborating with educational teams, and implementing individualized instructional strategies in a virtual learning environment.
Key Responsibilities
Provide direct virtual instruction and support to students with visual impairments
Develop and implement individualized educational plans and goals aligned with student needs
Conduct assessments and contribute to evaluations related to visual impairment services
Collaborate with general education teachers, special education staff, related service providers, and families
Participate in IEP meetings and provide recommendations regarding accommodations, modifications, and specialized instruction
Support the development of compensatory skills, assistive technology usage, and independent learning strategies
Monitor student progress and maintain accurate service documentation
Consult with school personnel regarding best practices for supporting students with visual impairments
Utilize telepractice platforms and virtual learning tools effectively
Qualifications
Master's level degree in Education for Visually Impaired Students
Active Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) or eligibility to obtain Illinois licensure
Certification or endorsement as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI) required
Previous experience working with students with visual impairments preferred
Experience providing virtual instruction or telepractice services preferred
Knowledge of assistive technology, accessibility tools, and specialized instructional techniques
Strong communication, collaboration, and organizational skills
Reliable internet connection and professional home office environment required
