SERVER
The Bristol Bar & Grille – Hurstbourne
Come Help Us Create Great Experiences
At The Bristol, we believe great hospitality is about more than taking an order and delivering food. It's about how you make people feel.
A great server notices the little things. You remember the guest who always orders the same glass of wine. You recognize when someone is celebrating before they tell you. You see when a table needs something before they have to ask. And sometimes, you find a small, unexpected way to make someone's day.
That's the kind of hospitality we're building.
The Bristol has been serving Louisville for nearly 50 years, and we're entering an exciting new chapter. We're looking for servers who enjoy people, take pride in their work, and want to be part of a team that believes hospitality can be something special.
What You'll Do
As a server, you'll be responsible for providing knowledgeable, attentive and genuinely warm hospitality to every guest.
You'll:
- Welcome guests and make them feel genuinely cared for from the moment they arrive.
- Learn our menu and confidently guide guests through food, wine, cocktails and beer.
- Ask questions, listen and make thoughtful recommendations rather than simply taking orders.
- Look for opportunities to surprise and delight our guests.
- Notice the details that can turn a good meal into a memorable experience.
- Take and accurately enter food and beverage orders.
- Deliver food and beverages promptly and professionally.
- Monitor your tables and anticipate guest needs throughout their experience.
- Handle guest concerns with urgency, empathy and a desire to make things right.
- Process guest payments accurately.
- Maintain clean, organized and fully stocked service areas.
- Complete opening, closing and assigned side work.
- Serve alcohol responsibly.
- Attend team meetings and training sessions.
- Jump in wherever you're needed. Great hospitality doesn't stop at the boundaries of your section.
The Kind of Person We're Looking For
Experience is helpful, but attitude, curiosity and a genuine desire to take care of people matter even more.
You may be a great fit if you:
- Naturally enjoy making people feel welcome.
- Have a positive attitude and bring good energy to a team.
- Pay attention to details.
- Take pride in knowing your food and beverages.
- Are curious and enjoy learning.
- Can read a table and understand that different guests want different experiences.
- Stay calm and gracious when things get busy.
- Believe helping a teammate is part of taking care of the guest.
- Are dependable and understand that your team is counting on you.
- Want to work somewhere that takes hospitality seriously without taking itself too seriously.
We Want You to Keep Learning
You don't need to know everything about food, wine or hospitality when you walk through our doors.
You do need to want to learn.
We invest in our team through opportunities such as food and wine education, tastings, hospitality training and other experiences designed to help you become more knowledgeable and confident with our guests.
We want our servers to understand not just what we're serving, but the stories behind it.
What You'll Need
- Ability to communicate clearly with guests and coworkers.
- Basic knowledge of restaurant service procedures or a willingness to learn.
- Ability to accurately handle payments and operate a point-of-sale system.
- Ability to stand and move throughout a busy shift.
- Ability to safely carry trays and items weighing up to approximately 30 pounds.
- Ability to meet applicable requirements for responsible alcohol service.
Hospitality Is a Team Sport
Some nights you'll help clear someone else's table.
Someone else will run your food.
A bartender may help you answer a wine question.
You may notice an anniversary at a table that isn't yours and help make it special.
That's how we want this restaurant to operate.
No egos. No "that's not my job." Just people taking care of people.
If you're looking for more than just another serving job—and you want to be part of a restaurant where hospitality, teamwork and creating memorable experiences actually matter—we'd love to meet you.
Come be part of the next chapter of The Bristol.
