Independence Health Physician Practices has an exciting opportunity for a Physician- Neurology in Westmoreland County. The Physician, Neurologist, examines, diagnoses and treats outpatient patients. The position manages patients through the continuum of care by collaborating with other medical professionals including Clinical Assistants, Medical Assistants, Clerical and Administrative staff. The position orders treatments, tests, mediation and consults with other specialty physicians and primary care physician where appropriate. Essential Job Functions
- Refer patients to medical specialist, social services or other professionals as appropriate
- Provide direct patient care services at the assigned Neurology offices
- Share on-call responsibilities for the Neurology Department during holidays, evenings and weekends.
- Assist with the interviewing and selection of prospective candidates for Neurology.
- Attend assigned medical group conference and meetings upon requests.
- Communicate with patients’ primary care physicians to maintain continuity and quality of care
- Prescribe medications or treatment regimens as appropriate
- Order or interpret the results of tests such as laboratory tests and radiography (x-rays) and advanced imaging.
- Diagnose, treat or provide continuous care to patients.
- Works in a modern environment including audio-dictation, EMR and digital radiology
- Other duties as assigned.
Competency and Experience [Knowledge, Skills and Abilities]
Required Qualifications/Experience
- Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) degree.
- Four (4) to seven (7) years of internship and residency training, pertaining to neurological specialties.
- Strong leadership ability, good organizational skills, independent and critical thinking skills, sound judgment, and knowledge of legal aspects and liability of nursing practice.
- Strong ability to communicate complex and/or controversial topics and concepts to a wide and diverse audience.
Preferred Qualifications/Experience
- 2-4 years’ experience in neurology.
- Experience in Healthcare setting.
License, Certification & Clearances
- Current medical license in the state of Pennsylvania.
- Certification by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology.
- DEA License
- Act 33 with renewal
- Act 34 with renewal
- Act 73 FBI Clearance with renewal
- Basic Life Support (BLS) preferred.
Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
- Incumbent will be scheduled based on operational need (rotate shifts, standby, on-call, etc.).
- Travel may be expected locally between System locations.
