Full Job Description
Summary and Purpose
The Supervised Visitation Monitor will observe, provide guidance and suggestions (when appropriate) for safe parent/child contact during visits and during transitions from one parent to another, and provide documentation for authorities such as the parents, attorneys, Department of Children and Family Services (DCFS) or the court.
The goal of the visitation is to protect the children’s safety, and ensure services are facilitated without abuse of either parent while providing for meaningful visitation.
Essential Functions or Duties and Responsibilities
- Consistently ensure that all actions and communications reflect and uphold the agency’s mission, vision, and core values.
- Schedule interviews and appointments for visitation.
- Conducts orientations for parents/guardians and children with sensitivity towards the special needs of children who are impacted by the trauma of divorce in a manner that respects each person’s dignity and right to make choices.
- Provide professional supervision and observe interactions between parents and children. Maintain a safe environment for clients; ensure adherence to center guidelines.
- Maintain client files and provides necessary objective documentation for parents, attorneys, judges, and others as appropriate to the case.
- Provide general case management to assigned families; participate in agency case management meetings.
- Completes necessary administrative tasks such as contact notes, observation notes, timesheets, checking phone messages, returning calls, and distributing and assisting clients with paperwork.
- Abide by the conflict-of-interest policy and report any prior relationships with new clients if/when they arise to supervisor and avoid dual roles.
- Follow established procedures for handling money at Center.
- Develop rapport and trusting relationships with families served.
- Prepares incident reports.
- Attends regularly scheduled staff meetings and professional development
- Perform other duties as needed to achieve the mission of the SSPS
Legal Requirements
- Be at least 18 years of age.
- Have no conviction of child molestation, child abuse, or other crimes relating to children.
- Have no conviction of a violent crime and/or on probation or parole during the last five years.
- Have had no civil or criminal restraining order issued against him or her within the last five years.
- Be in compliance with local health requirements for direct contact with children.

- Ability to set strong boundaries around personal wellbeing.
- Ability to hold compassion and understanding for survivors, children, and people who use violence.
- Able and willing to ask for help and support.
- Non-judgmental and awareness of personal judgements with the ability to self-monitor and set them aside.
- The ability to make clear decisions and remain calm in chaotic circumstances while being pressured or confronted by others.
- The ability to make decisions and defer decision-making to other staff when necessary.
- The ability to manage conflict effectively and model healthy communication styles
- Willing to work evenings, weekends, and holidays to accommodate clients’ needs and the program
- Act professionally and ethically at all times and maintain a positive, cooperative, and productive working relationships with colleagues and collaborative partners.
- Ability and willingness to hold a physically and emotionally demanding position
- Knowledge of or experience in intimate partner violence.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working with children or families.
- Knowledge of community resources.
- Bilingual skills (English, Spanish, and/or other language).
Education Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in a human centered field such as Social Work, Counseling, Psychology, early childhood, education or an equivalent combination of relevant education, training, and professional experience to perform job duties.

Pay: From $20.00 per hour
