We’re looking for a Pricing Analyst who knows that behind every shipment, there’s a cost, a margin, and a story to tell. If you’ve spent time building rates for LTL and Truckload freight, understand carrier cost structures like the back of your hand, and aren’t afraid to confidently say, “here’s the best way to handle this situation,” then you’ll fit right in.
In this role, you’ll play a key part in crafting smart, competitive pricing strategies by digging into numbers, collaborating with sales, and working directly with our carrier partners, both on calls and in person. You’ll need to balance speed and accuracy, margin and competitiveness, and know when to ask questions and when to make the call yourself.
What You’ll Do
Analyze
- Analyze carrier cost models to build margin-smart pricing strategies
- Develop scalable analytics models that gives every opportunity the focus it deserves and treats it with the same level of importance as the shipper and consignee
- Review internal and external data to find opportunities for Sales team to explore
- Use Excel (heavily) to manipulate and analyze freight data (pivot tables, nested formulas, and XLOOKUPs should be second nature)
- Collaborate with the Sales & Carrier Sales team to respond to transactional and RFP pricing requests
- Drive RFP processes, identifying input gaps, process gaps, and output gaps
Educate
- Engage with both internal stakeholders and external customers explaining pricing logic and supporting strategic decisions
- Monitor freight trends, market shifts, and pricing opportunities, then inform stakeholders of real-life impacts
- Develop and implement educational and informative tools to arm Sales with confidence when talking with customers
- Identify areas of improvement for Sales and Carrier sales teams, with an eye towards collaboration and improvement
Execute
- Create data-backed recommendations, then work cross-functionally with Sales and Carrier Sales to implement recommendations
- Meet with carriers to understand their cost drivers, build stronger partnerships, and negotiate better pricing options
- Get into the nitty-gritty and create and employ fixes into current MFW processes
- Handle ad Hoc customer, carrier, and company data, reporting, and analysis requests
What You Bring
- 2+ years of transportation pricing or costing experience
- Strong working knowledge of LTL and TL pricing mechanics, including base rates, FSCs, accessorials, and contract structures
- An attention to detail that lets you catch inconsistencies, spot margin leaks, and prevent bad data from sneaking by
- Intermediate Excel skills. You don’t need to be a wizard, but you need to be efficient and accurate
- Confidence to work through ambiguity and make sound decisions with less-than-perfect information
- Comfortable on calls or in meetings with both sales reps and external customers; you can explain the “why” behind the numbers
- Experience working with AI in a workplace. We don’t live and die by AI modeling and coding, but are looking for a candidate with understanding of how to use AI to support their work, not replace it.
Bonus Points If You
- Ask smart questions that get to the heart of a pricing challenge
- Enjoy digging into messy freight data to uncover insights
- Can explain complicated pricing strategies in a way that non-pricing folks actually understand
- Have experience managing RFP timelines and can keep your cool when the deadline hits
- Experience with various TMS, pricing platforms, or data visualization tools is a bonus
