Duties
- Safely operate tractor-trailers on over-the-road (OTR) routes, including refrigerated trailers, flatbeds, tankers, and dump trucks.
- Load and unload freight using manual handling techniques or forklift equipment when necessary, ensuring cargo integrity.
- Navigate efficiently using GPS navigation systems to meet delivery schedules across various routes.
- Transport automobile parts or other freight securely while complying with DOT (Department of Transportation) regulations and hazardous materials regulations.
- Load & unload cargo accurately, verifying shipment contents against manifests to prevent errors.
- Maintain compliance with FMCSA regulations by conducting pre-trip inspections and documenting vehicle condition.
- Communicate effectively with dispatch teams regarding delivery status, route adjustments, or safety concerns.
Requirements
- Valid CDL A license with a clean driving record; experience operating tractor-trailers preferred.
- Proven delivery driver experience with knowledge of route driving and logistics cargo handling.
- Familiarity with refrigerated trailers, flatbed trucks, tanker trucks, roll-off trucks, and dump trucks is highly desirable.
- Ability to handle hazardous materials (hazmat) and dangerous goods following all safety protocols.
- Proficiency in using GPS navigation systems for efficient route planning and execution.
- Knowledge of FMCSA (Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration) regulations and DOT (Department of Transportation) standards governing commercial trucking.
- Skilled in manual transmission driving and truck loading/unloading procedures.
- Physical ability to perform manual handling tasks including lifting heavy loads safely; forklift certification is a plus.
