Job Summary
St. Mary's Legacy Clinic continues the legacy of the Sisters of Mercy by providing primary care to improve the lives of the medically underserved in the rural areas of East Tennessee through our mobile clinics, volunteers and partnerships. We are seeking a dynamic and passionate Volunteer Coordinator to lead and inspire our volunteer programs. In this role, you will be responsible for recruiting, training, and managing volunteers across community initiatives. Your energetic leadership will foster strong community engagement, ensure seamless volunteer operations, and promote a positive experience for all participants. This position offers an exciting opportunity to make a meaningful impact while developing your leadership and community outreach skills.
Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and maintain a comprehensive recruitment, orientation, training, retention, and recognition plan for individual and group volunteers to ensure that all volunteers are knowledgeable and feel valued.
- Volunteer Team – Cultivate team members to support key areas of work as described above.
- Develop and maintain collegial relationships with peers in the field and with area volunteer organizations to ensure best practices for our volunteer and collaborative partnerships.
- Develop, implement, and maintain complete and accurate records including volunteer policies, procedures, position descriptions, standards of conduct, and background checks
- Provide monthly, quarterly, and annual reports on all individual and group volunteer activities to include number of volunteers, number of hours, in-kind contribution value of service.
- Evaluate, implement, and maintain a system for volunteer administration, coordination. and insights.
- Serve as primary point of contact for all requests to volunteer/collaborate including, telephone, voicemail, email, social media, and written requests and ensure a timely response.
- Communication Strategy - Develop, implement, and disseminate appropriate collateral materials, website and social media for recruitment of and communication with current and potential volunteers.
- Develop relationships that fund and nourish our Clinic and its communities.
- Assist with other duties as assigned.
- Qualifications
- Knowledge and respect for Catholic teachings and traditions is required
- Strong customer service orientation with the ability to foster positive relationships with volunteers and community members.
- Proven leader who takes initiative within the boundaries of responsibility
- Proven marketing, advertising and social media abilities .
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Excellent written communication skills for creating training materials, reports, and outreach content.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) along with database management experience in Salesforce or Raiser's Edge.
- Good interpersonal skills and demonstrated oral communication abilities, including public speaking, networking and group training.
- Must be flexible in scheduling as occasional evenings and weekends are needed
