The Department of Parks, Recreation, and Community Services is seeking energetic and caring Preschool Teacher Substitutes to provide classroom coverage while teachers are out. Substitutes play a vital role in supporting our preschool programs by engaging in children, maintaining a safe and positive classroom environment, and continuing the learning and play that make our programs special. Our preschool programs nurture curiosity, creativity, and growth in young children through games, arts and crafts, music, stories, and hands-on activities. We value each child’s unique abilities and needs and create welcoming spaces for all families. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Supporting and guiding children through classroom activities, encouraging exploration, playing, and self-care.
- Engaging with parents, staff, and site personnel in a professional and friendly manner.
- Supervising and ensuring the safety of preschool-aged children.
- Observing and responding to children’s needs and behaviors.
- Carrying out daily classroom routines and activities prepared by the lead teacher.
- May carry out additional critical job responsibilities pertinent to the specific role and departmental assignment.
