Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate individual to join our team at Childress Junior High School as a Paraprofessional. This full-time position plays a crucial role in supporting students and teachers in the classroom setting. The ideal candidate will assist in the educational and social development of students, fostering a positive learning environment and promoting student engagement and success.
Responsibilities
- Assist teachers in implementing lesson plans and instructional activities.
- Support students with special needs by providing individualized attention and assistance.
- Help monitor student behavior and provide guidance to promote a respectful and productive classroom environment.
- Facilitate small group and one-on-one instruction to reinforce learning concepts.
- Assist in the preparation of instructional materials and classroom resources.
- Maintain accurate records of student progress and behavior, reporting any concerns to the teacher.
- Collaborate with teachers, special education staff, and other professionals to develop and adapt educational strategies.
- Supervise students during non-instructional times, including lunch and recess.
- Participate in staff meetings, training sessions, and professional development opportunities.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the supervising teacher or school administration.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent; additional education or certification in education or related field preferred.
- Previous experience working with children or in an educational setting is highly desirable.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with students, teachers, and parents.
- Patience, empathy, and a genuine interest in supporting students' educational and emotional needs.
- Ability to follow directions and work collaboratively as part of a team.
- Proficient in basic computer skills and familiarity with educational technology.
- Ability to lift and assist students as needed, including those with physical disabilities.
- Must pass background checks and meet any state or district requirements for paraprofessional positions.
