The New Sweden Irrigation District is seeking a dependable, organized, and detail-oriented individual to serve as Secretary/Treasurer. This full-time position is an important role within the district, supporting daily office operations, financial responsibilities, district members, and Board activities.
The ideal candidate will be someone who enjoys working independently, takes pride in accurate work, has strong organizational skills, and can provide excellent service to the community.
Schedule:
Office hours are typically Monday through Friday, 9:00 AM–4:00 PM. Some flexibility may be required during busy periods, including assessment processing and mailing season (October–December).
Responsibilities Include:
Manage daily office operations and administrative duties
Maintain accurate financial records and complete bank/account reconciliation
Handle district funds responsibly (bonding required)
Process payments and assist with credit card transactions
Maintain organized files and records
Prepare letters, permits, and correspondence
Assist the Manager with district operations
Host monthly Board meetings
Conduct yearly elections
Provide professional customer service and phone etiquette
Follow guidance from the Chairman and Board Members
Read and understand Idaho State Statutes 42–43 related to irrigation districts
Required Skills & Experience:
Accounting & Office Software: QuickBooks; Microsoft Excel and Word; Microsoft Access (or similar database systems)
Property & Mapping Tools: Bingham & Bonneville County Parcel Viewer; XHunt; Google Maps
Office Equipment & Administrative Tools: 10-key calculator; scanner/copier equipment; credit card processing systems
Additional Qualifications:
Excellent organization and bookkeeping abilities
Ability to manage multiple priorities and adapt as needed
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Dependable, professional, and detail-oriented
