The Town of Wareham’s Human Resources Department, on behalf of the EMS Department, is accepting applications for full-time Paramedics or EMTs who are currently enrolled in a Paramedic Program and have the ability to test within six months of hire date. Paramedic hourly rate is $28.89. EMT hourly pay rate is $22.50 which will increase to the Paramedic rate upon receipt of a Paramedic Certificate and authorization to practice. Salary and a very generous benefits package (including health insurance paid at 68% of the premium and dental insurance paid at 75% of the premium), paid time off, professional development and other generous benefits are in accordance with the current Collective Bargaining Agreement.
Education/Licenses: High school diploma or equivalent. Current Massachusetts driver’s license and proof of good driving record. Current Massachusetts Registered EMT Certification. Current CPR document. Advanced level providers must have current ACLS certification and must have or be able to obtain an authorization to practice card.
Qualifications: Applicants must be able to conduct triage, perform basic life support and/or advanced life support depending on position. Perform duties according to statewide EMS protocols. Must be able to lift 100 pounds with assistance. Must have knowledge of basic medical terminology, human anatomy and physiology. Must have the ability to work effectively with other public safety personnel and perform field duties. Must be able to work under stressful conditions in all weather conditions. Subject to CORI/SORI, pre-employment physical, functional capacity test, psychological testing, drug test and a Registry of Motor Vehicles License check.
