Renewal House, a domestic violence and sexual assault agency, is seeking a Campus Advocate to provide advocacy, education, outreach, and support services throughout St. Lawrence County.
The Campus Advocate will serve as a liaison and advocate across five local college campuses, providing prevention education, awareness programming, crisis intervention, and support services for students affected by domestic violence, sexual assault, dating violence, and stalking. This position will also provide advocacy services within the Renewal House office, including direct client support, crisis counseling, safety planning, referrals, and case management.
Qualifications:
- Degree in education, counseling, social work, human services, or a related field strongly preferred, but not required.
- Degree may be substituted with two years of experience in crisis counseling, human services, and/or relevant life experience.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule, including occasional evenings and weekends.
- Willingness and ability to travel throughout St. Lawrence County and to local college campuses.
- Strong organizational, communication, and public speaking skills, with the ability to present to both small and large audiences.
- Commitment to supporting survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault.
- Reliable transportation and a personal cell phone are required.
Responsibilities Include:
- Providing advocacy and support services to students on five local college campuses.
- Conducting outreach, prevention education, and awareness programs for campus communities.
- Offering crisis intervention, safety planning, information, and referrals.
- Providing direct client services in the Renewal House office and throughout the community.
- Collaborating with campus personnel, community partners, and service providers.
- Maintaining confidential client records and documentation.
