JOB DESCRIPTION
Job Title: Welding Fixture Fabricator Reports To: Production Manager
Department(s): Operations FLSA Status: Non-Exempt
SUMMARY OF ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Responsible for carrying out the daily duties of a Welding fixture fabricator, including but not limited to fabrication of jigs/fixtures to create metal assemblies as specified by work order, blueprints, drawing, templates, layout or verbal instructions. Quality control, assisting, coaching and instructing machine operators for the qualitative and timely completion of projects.
SPECIFIC DUTIES, ACTIVITIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:
- Create welding fixtures/ gauges for spot/ MIG welding
- Assist and monitor progress of the jig or fixture’s gauging, locating, and innovative ability.
- Plans sequence of operations, applying knowledge of physical properties of metal.
- Inspects work piece for defects.
- Measures work piece and verify dimensions using micrometer, template, straightedge, and scale. Selects and positions flat, block, radius or special purpose die sets into ram and bed of machine, using hoist crane, measuring instruments and hand tools.
- Provide input to enhance existing production methods.
- Work independently with minimum supervision and/or willing to work in a team environment, which may include working on projects and/or equipment that is outside or of original job scope.
- Continually strive to meet Midland Metal Products employment standards, policies, and regulations.
- Assist with other departments when necessary.
- Maintain awareness of and continually practice safe work habits. Maintain a safe work environment.
- Maintain cleanliness on projects both during and after job completion. Adhere to and understand 5-S standards and evaluation.
- Work overtime when needed.
- Work in a variety of temperature conditions.
- Maintain accurate records, both paper and electronic, related to incoming and outgoing materials, job orders, shipping tags, etc.
- Maintain updated knowledge of product and industry standards.
- Perform related duties as assigned or as the situation dictates.
- Attend company-sponsored training (i.e. external, in-house, web/computer based, etc.)
POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
Education and Training: High school diploma or GED and technical training preferred.
Three (3) years of previous work-related skill, knowledge, and experience preferred.
Experience:
- Must have proven abilities in communication, organization, setting priorities.
- Experience with process improvement methodologies to improve efficiency and effectiveness.
- Ideal candidate is hands-on, has a strong mechanical aptitude, enjoys fixing things, and is capable of successfully managing increasing complex engineering projects from inception through delivery.
- Ability to use a PC, in-house software, and Microsoft Office products to effectively administrate and organize departmental objectives.
- Prior mechanical training or background. Strong mechanical aptitude.
- Familiarity with standard tools and units of measurement.
- Basic math skills (add, subtract, multiply, divide).
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $20.00 - $30.00 per hour
