We are seeking an experienced and motivated Store Manager to lead daily operations, develop team members, and uphold the high standards that define the Dayglow experience at our Venice Location.
Position Overview
The Store Manager is responsible for overseeing all day-to-day operations of the café. This role combines leadership, hospitality, team development, operational management, and administrative responsibilities. The ideal candidate is a hands-on leader who thrives in a fast-paced environment, is passionate about coffee and hospitality, and can inspire a team to deliver exceptional service.
Key Responsibilities:
Leadership & Hospitality
- Lead the café team by example, modeling professionalism, hospitality, and accountability.
- Foster a welcoming, safe, and respectful work environment.
- Ensure exceptional customer service and guest satisfaction.
- Maintain high standards of cleanliness, organization, and operational excellence.
Team Management & Development
- Recruit, hire, onboard, and train new employees.
- Conduct ongoing training, education, and performance development..
- Create and manage staff schedules.
- Approve time-off requests and coordinate shift coverage.
- Serve as the primary contact for call-outs and staffing emergencies.
- Process payroll, calculate and distribute tips, and resolve timecard discrepancies.
- Ensure all employee certifications and required documentation remain current.
Operations & Inventory Management
- Oversee daily café operations and support the team in all areas as needed.
- Assist with prep work, dishwashing, cleaning, stocking, and maintaining both front-of-house and back-of-house spaces.
- Delegate tasks effectively through daily, weekly, and monthly operational checklists.
- Oversee inventory management and ordering processes.
- Maintain accurate inventory levels and place timely orders for coffee, ingredients, and supplies.
- Ensure invoices are processed and paid on time while maintaining proper documentation.
Quality Control & Product Execution
- Maintain beverage quality and consistency according to Dayglow standards.
- Lead menu launches and train staff on new products and procedures.
- Stay informed on current coffee offerings and educate both guests and team members.
- Support waste reduction initiatives and assist with monthly reporting related to cost of goods and waste management.
Communication & Reporting
- Actively engage with company communication platforms and ensure team alignment with operational updates.
- Prepare and submit bi-weekly reports on sales, labor, inventory, and team performance.
- Participate in monthly leadership meetings to review business performance and goals.
Training & Community Engagement
- Collaborate with Dayglow leadership to support and enhance internal training programs.
- Promote Dayglow’s coffee offerings, subscriptions, and educational initiatives.
- Host tastings, classes, and community events when appropriate.
- Serve as a positive ambassador for the Dayglow brand both inside and outside the café.
Qualifications Required
- 2+ years of management experience in specialty coffee, hospitality, food service, or retail.
- Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
- Ability to multitask and problem-solve in a fast-paced environment.
- Experience with scheduling, payroll, inventory management, and team development.
- Ability to work flexible schedules, including weekends and holidays as needed.
Preferred
- Specialty coffee experience and knowledge of coffee preparation methods.
- Experience conducting staff training and educational programs.
- Familiarity with labor management, cost controls, and inventory systems.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand for extended periods.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to perform repetitive tasks including bending, reaching, and lifting.
