Summary:
Within the ministry and mission of First Presbyterian Church of Waco Texas, this position works closely with staff, congregational leaders and the larger congregation, when necessary, to ensure accurate communication and readiness of building and staff for ministry.
Purpose:
This is a part-time position of 20 hours per week. The position provides secretarial and hospitality support to the staff of First Presbyterian, its congregation, and visitors.
Accountability:
The Office Assistant shall be primarily accountable to the session through the Senior Pastor and specifically understand goals and objectives through a thoughtful annual review process of the personnel committee which shall include the Senior Pastor as staff member.

Specific Responsibilities:
Administrative:
1. Communication /Hospitality
a. Prepares and types correspondence, including communications to members, ministry teams, ministers and agendas as needed.
b. Maintains church's master calendar coordinating space use between church and outside organizations collaborating with the Operations Manager.
c. Answers phone when in church office and provides information about the church. Returns messages and provides members with information as needed.
d. Along with other staff members educates members on Realm and other online platforms.
e. Manages flow into and from the building 9 to 4 with the exception of the lunch hour.
2. Organization
a. Updates and maintains church records within Realm and or the shared dropbox of membership, transfers, and visitors communicating an accurate membership count to the session.
b. Maintains a filing system on SharePoint and, when necessary, in hard copy in collaboration with all other office and program staff members.
c. Supporting the preparation for governance and committee work.
d. Coordinates church volunteers to answer phones and complete tasks with Operations Manager.
e. Worship bulletin and space preparation.
Competencies and Tasks
1. Acumen with social media, multi-extension for Ooma phone systems, Adobe suite, Canva, Word, Excel, and some website acumen is preferred.
2. Use of virtual platforms to build community.
3. Social media collaboration.
4. Communication at the receipt or transfer of church members.
5. Regular updates to the homebound list made available to the larger congregation.
Pay: $18.00 - $20.00 per hour
