Essential Job Functions:
- Basic duties include hand digging, raking, mowing, trimming, edging, watering, weeding; moving sod, soil and mulch, blowing and sweeping debris, changing trash bags, collecting litter, power-washing surfaces, etc. Maintain landscape and garden areas as needed by planting, trimming, fertilizing, mowing, composting, or other activities.
- May be assigned to planting flowers, hedges and trees; tree pruning, landscape and/or turf and sod installation.
- Ensure all work is completed safely and in accordance with company standards.
- Completes all tasks assigned by supervisor.
- Receives direct and specific direction from immediate supervisor as to work assignments and quantity and quality of work expectations.
- Maintain good working relationships with clients and co-workers.
- Follow a to-do list and procedures as well as be proactive to create lists for property care and improvement.
- Feeds, prunes, trims, and waters a variety of plants, flowers, trees, and shrubs in order to maintain a beautiful environment.
- Manually removes, installs, and maintains plant material in beds and containers.
- Relocates or re-plants specimen trees and shrubs as directed.
- Assists in design of landscaping beds, and grounds.
- Cleans fountains, pools, and ponds as needed. Ensure that all fountain pumps are operational or repaired as necessary.
- Keeps gardens and green spaces clear of debris.
- Operates machinery for loading, unloading, and transporting materials, equipment, and supplies.
- Installs and maintains the sprinkler and irrigation systems that keep lawns, gardens, and various green spaces watered. Maintain water timers to prevent water waste.
- Monitors irrigation lines for any damage or leaks. Report any damage to the Crew Lead.
- Maintains aesthetic quality and adequate clearances around driveways, paths, lighting, roadways, midways, signage, safety equipment, and other items.
- Works safely with a variety of power trimming, mowing, and tilling equipment, such as mowers, edgers, string trimmers, tractors, tillers, etc. as required by job assignment.
- Ability to operate different kinds of landscaping machinery such as mowers, tractors, and trenchers effectively and safely.
- Be able to maintain and provide for minor repairs to all landscaping machinery.
- Cleans, refuels, adds lubricants if necessary, to all landscaping equipment.
- Able to repair, install, and operate equipment that can include sprinklers, water lines, pumps, suction devices, valves, and other irrigation equipment.
- Performs other duties as assigned. Completes all tasks assigned by supervisor.

Supervisory responsibilities
Work environment
- The work is generally performed outdoors.
- Exposure to insects, and wildlife.
- Consistently exposed to varying temperatures, inclement weather conditions, dust, fumes, and other environmental factors typical of landscaping maintenance and landscaping equipment repair work.
- Regularly works around tools, mechanical equipment, and cleaning chemicals, including environmentally safe products.
- Must wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) as required by task or environment.
Physical demands- The physical demands below are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job:
- The work requires physical exertion such as long periods of standing, walking, recurring bending, crouching, stooping, stretching, crawling, hand digging, reaching, or similar activities, and lifting a minimum of 25 to 50 lbs. assisted or unassisted. Must be able to move up and down a step ladder at times working overhead.
Physical Requirements
- Physical ability to perform demanding outdoor labor in varying weather conditions.
- Must be able to stand and/or walk for extended periods of time.
- Must be able to bend, twist, stoop, crouch, stretch, crawl, and kneel.
- Must be able to consistently carry 25 to 50 lbs.

- Must be able to climb and descend step ladders and perform overhead work when required.
- Ability to work and have exposure to various changing weather conditions.
- Ability to see for purposes of reading printed matter for landscaping supply labels, instructions, and various documents.
- Ability to hear and understand speech at normal levels.
- Ability to communicate so others will be able to clearly understand.
- Must be able to reach in all directions.
- Ability to grasp and hold landscaping equipment for long periods of time.

Travel required

This position may require travel to various property locations locally, within Northern California, and to multiple property location sites as scheduled.
Required education and experience
- Landscaping Experience: Typically requires at least 1 to 2 years of irrigation, hardscaping, planting, and landscaping equipment operation experience.
Preferred education and experience
- High School Diploma (Preferred)
