Job Summary:
We are a large, family-owned pick-your-own orchard in beautiful Rappahannock County, Virginia, with more than 15,000 apple and peach trees and a long-standing reputation for quality fruit and customer experience.
As our farm continues to grow and diversify, we are seeking a full-time, year-round Horticulture Specialist to lead the planning, planting, cultivation, and care of a wide range of crops and ornamental plantings.
This is a hands-on position for someone with real-world growing experience who is excited about helping shape the future of a dynamic and expanding farm operation.
Current & Planned Farm Projects Include:
- Large sunflower fields
- Zinnias, cosmos, and lavender
- Heirloom pumpkins
- Seasonal vegetables and herbs
- Expansion into greenhouse production
- Future year-round growing of herbs, vegetables, fruits, and flowers
Responsibilities:
- Plan, plant, cultivate, and maintain diversified crops and plantings
- Monitor crop health and implement fertilization, irrigation, weed, disease, and pest management programs
- Develop seasonal planting schedules and production plans
- Operate tractors, implements, and other farm equipment safely and efficiently
- Assist with orchard operations, including spraying apple and peach trees when needed
- Help establish and manage future greenhouse production
- Maintain accurate records related to crop production and inputs
- Assist with general farm projects and seasonal tasks as needed, such as mowing and maintenance
Qualifications:
- Several years of practical experience in horticulture, farming, greenhouse production, nursery operations, market farming, or specialty crop production
- Experience growing flowers, herbs, vegetables, pumpkins, or similar crops
- Ability to operate tractors and farm equipment
- Knowledge of fertilization and integrated pest management practices
- Ability to perform physically demanding outdoor work in all seasons
- Strong work ethic, problem-solving skills, and willingness to work independently
- Applicator certification is a plus, or willingness to obtain certification

The ideal candidate is a practical grower who can take ownership of diversified crop production while also helping wherever needed across the farm.
